ABOUT

ABOUT

Concert 1:

Kollektiv UNRUHE presents a program that deals intensively with sonic obsession. Beltrán Gonzalez' "macchinario" and José Luis Perdigón's "space junk" play with mechanical rhythms and repetitive structures. Aurés Moussong's "Oblivious to the passage of time" and Sofía Scheps' "I come from afar" create moments in which time seems to stand still through concentrated attention to subtle sounds.

Concert 2:

Text from the promoter:
A concert with moderation for young students and beginners in contemporary music!
Spatialization of sound, mechanical rhythms, underwater sounds, and a performative exploration of identity—the works of Oscar Escudero, Malin Sieberns, John Aulich, Nicolas Roulive, Emre Sihan Kaleli, and Beniamino Fiorini promise a diverse concert evening, presented at the highest artistic level. As the result of their second residency week at Rheinsberg Castle, Kollektiv UNRUHE presents a program that intensively explores media diversity and probes the possibilities of contemporary composition.

Concert 3:

Ruhestörung
Flexibility, curiosity, interaction, and a spirit of experimentation at the open-air concert by the Berlin collective Unruhe. The program features improvised music, contemporary soundscapes, and experimental pieces performed against a backdrop of historic walls.

"It has been decided: The Rheinsberg resident ensemble for new music for the 2024/25 academy year is KOLLEKTIV UNRUHE. The ensemble impressed at the selection concert on 2 March in the Rheinsberg Castle Theatre with its inspired programme and artistic vision. Marcus Friedrich, Director of the Rheinsberg Music Academy and member of the four-person jury, on the decision: ‘KOLLEKTIV UNRUHE delivered a great overall package of successful performance, musical class and conceptual skilfulness. The willingness to experiment and the theatrical-performative presentation as well as the sincere joy of playing convinced us as a jury across the board.’

In its concerts, the ensemble always seeks to cross the boundaries to other art forms. It researches new forms of musical storytelling and regularly collaborates with various contemporary composers. This results in impressive syntheses of genres, styles and performances.

The international group of musicians with members from Argentina, Australia, Greece and Italy, among others, consists of young professional musicians who come together in changing line-ups. Beltrán Gonzalez (conductor), Olivia Palmer-Baker (bassoon), llona Perger (piano), Camilo Hirschhorn (clarinet), Elisabeth Müller (accordion), José Luis Perdigón de Paz (violin) and Malin Sieberns (flute) impressed at the selection concert in Rheinsberg.

This year's jury consisted of the Australian musician and performer Rosanna Lovell, the British composer Juliana Hodkinsons and the composer Stefan Streich, Artistic Director of Klangwerkstatt Berlin. Marcus Friedrich, Director of the Rheinsberg Music Academy, completed the jury quartet.

The title ‘Rheinsberg Resident Ensemble for New Music’ has been awarded to ensembles dedicated to contemporary music since 2021. The selected ensemble is supported by the Rheinsberg Music Academy for a year through individual further training as well as rehearsal and performance opportunities. The aim of the programme is the artistic and conceptual development of the ensemble as well as the realisation of new and ‘unheard’ concert formats. For the residency in the 24/25 season, the theme of ‘Recycling’ takes centre stage."
